In March 1997, husband and wife Dana and Melanie Harvey while installing seatbelts into their 1950 Buick, had the idea of making Melanie a matching handbag. Everyone loved hers so much that they decided to make more.

Starting the business in their one car garage in California they quickly outgrew it and now occupy a 12,000 square foot design studio in Santa Ana, California where every SEATBELTBAG is lovingly Built in the USA to exact specifications.
